Kućanstvo — household finances

Kućanstvo ("household" in Croatian) is a project for managing household finances based on plain-text accounting: transactions are recorded in ordinary text files (the Beancount format) and browsed through the Fava web interface.

Why plain text?

• your data stays yours — ordinary files you can version, back up and read without special software;
• no subscriptions, no cloud — everything runs locally;
• verifiable — double-entry bookkeeping catches input errors.

Plans

The project is at an early stage. We plan to connect it with our grocery price database so that household expenses can be automatically categorised and compared against average prices.
